Project - Fenchurch Street UPS Renewal

While only lasting 2 weekends this project replaced the critical UPS systems for a London DataCentre making it both high profile and high risk.​

NBB Rail were contacted in December 2024 to provide all installation and testing for the replacement of 2 UPS systems when the original contractor were unable to undertake the project.​

With minimal time to prepare we sourced all required material (main equipment by manufacturer), provided detailed schematics, haulage and staff, all worked out to a 30min by 30min programme. ​

This allowed for isolation and removal of the old 300KvA Inverter including 6 tonnes of lead acid batteries. Inc all DC works.​

Installation of a new 180KvA inverter and 3 tonnes of batteries, testing, commissioning and load bank testing of the new system. Inc all DC works.​

All between 18.00 Friday and 18.00 Sunday allowing continued operation of the critical server equipment for Monday morning.​

This was then all repeated the following weekend with UPS number 2.​

Our attention to detail and assurance process led to the discovery of legacy defects with the 240mm supply cables not being crimped correctly (loose crimps that could be removed by hand) and allowed us to rectify these defects while maintaining the programme.​

A full assurance pack including installation check sheets and an NICEIC EIC was provided electronically within 72 hours of completion.
