Project - Plantroom Refurbishment

Client - The Little Ship Club

The Little Ship Club is a members sailing club located on the Thames next to Cannon Street station. Being built in 1989 the main plant room was suffering from a series of make do measures and was inoperable.

NBB Rail surveyed the ventilation system (AHUs and FCUs), LTHW, CHW, DHW. The full electrical distribution system and BMS. From this we developed a scope with the client which:

  • Replaced all the lighting within the club with energy efficient LED lighting
  • Rebuilt the BMS by upgrading to Trend IQ5 and refurbishing the MCC.
  • Removed all the old circulating pumps and dead legs within the LTHW and CHW services. Re-piped these in a new arrangement, provided new pumps controlled via the BMS and added in missing components such as buffer vessels.
  • Removed a redundant AHU and repaired the remaining AHUs including making alterations to ductwork and dampers.
  • Tested and inspected the new works and provided a full EICR for the premises.

A second phase of works is currently in design to remove the existing calorifier, natural gas boiler and chiller in favour of modern energy efficient heating and cooling. This will:

  • Provide a dual condenser LG VRF system connected to refrigerant to water units and new chilled water buffers for the LTHW and CHW circuits.
  • Provide dual R290 heat pump cylinders for the DHW service serving all outlets throughout the club.
